Port Moody plastic surgeon Dr. H. Ukani performs mastopexy, often called a breast lift, to give women from Coquitlam, Surrey, and beyond firmer, shaplier breasts. Breastfeeding, heredity, weight changes, and other factors can cause the breasts to sag or droop. On its own, a breast lift repositions a woman's natural breast tissue to restore the breasts to a higher, more youthful-looking position. The procedure can also be performed in conjunction with breast augmentation to add both volume and lift to the breasts.

Breast lift surgery is a highly customized procedure that can be tailored to suit a variety of patients. In general, good candidates for the operation are healthy, adult women who would like to address one or more of the following concerns:
During the consultation, Dr. Ukani takes the time to evaluate each candidate's body and help her determine the best course of action for her anatomy, goals, and lifestyle. The decision to undergo a breast lift is highly personal, and Dr. Ukani understands that a woman's feelings about her breasts can affect much more than her body. He also discusses the option of combining breast lift surgery with a breast augmentation for certain candidates.

Dr. Ukani tailors each breast lift procedure to suit the unique needs of a variety of patients. He may make adjustments depending on the degree of breast sagging (ptosis), the quality of the breast skin, and other factors.
Dr. Ukani keeps incisions short and discreet, and he discusses incisions and likely scarring with you during your consultation. The most common incision he uses is a peri-areolar incision, which is made around the areola, or the portion of darker skin that surrounds the nipple. For breasts that require a more significant lift, Dr. Ukani uses a lollipop incision, which is made around the areola and then down the breast to the crease. Prior to your surgery, Dr. Ukani explains which incision he plans to use and why.
Once the incision has been made, the underlying fat and breast tissue are repositioned to a more youthful-looking shape and position. The nipple and areola are raised to point forward instead of downward, and enlarged or stretched areolas are reduced in size. Excess breast skin is also removed for a smooth, toned appearance. Internal, dissolvable sutures are added to support the breasts as they heal.
The recuperation process following a breast lift in Vancouver is typically not excessively painful or challenging. While they heal, the breasts are supported with sterile dressings and a surgical bra. Some bruising and swelling is normal, and discomfort or soreness is manageable with prescription medications.
Patients are advised to sleep on their backs and keep their breast supported to promote proper healing and minimize excessive scarring. Most women feel comfortable enough to return to work after 1 to 2 weeks, although those with physically demanding jobs will likely need more time off.
Light exercise may be picked up after 3 weeks, and strenuous activity, such as weightlifting, can be resumed after 5 weeks. Dr. Ukani provides each patient with detailed, personalized postoperative instructions.
By maintaining a healthy lifestyle and avoiding extreme weight fluctuations, breast lift patients may enjoy their beautiful results for many years.
